Kidney Health Week is held annually during the last week of May (22-28 May). The week aims to create awareness about maintaining  kidney health, as well as kidney disease and its impact. Find out if you are at risk.

Did you know:

  • 1 in 3 Australians are at increased risk of kidney disease

  • 90% of kidney function can be lost without experiencing any symptoms

  • Everyday, 60 Australians die with kidney-related disease

  • Diabetes and high blood pressure are two of the most common causes of kidney disease

  • Kidney disease affects an estimated 1.7 million Australians

Do you have a risk factor?

  • Diabetes

  • Smoker

  • High blood pressure

  • Over 60 years of age    

  • Heart problems and /or have had a stroke

  • Family history of kidney disease

  • Obese

  • History of acute kidney injury

  • Of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander origin

If you answered yes to any of these, take action with an annual kidney health check with your GP.
